Thanks to the grant from the Petfinder Foundation, MJ was able to finally have a loving home. With her fee waived, she was adopted within one week of Save-A-Pet receiving the grant. She spent two months with her loving family before passing away. Her family reported back to us often during that time and they were overjoyed with having her. As you’ll see from the attached pictures, MJ was so happy to be with them. We wish they all could have had longer together, but we are so grateful that the Petfinder Foundation helped MJ’s last days be happy.

The $1,000 grant from the Petfinder Foundation allowed us find 14-year-old MJ a new, forever home. We were able to advertise her waived fee and covered medical expenses to all potential adopting families and were pleased to have found a match this past month. MJ is doing wonderfully with her new family and is loving life outside of Save-A-Pet. We are so grateful to the Petfinder Foundation for helping us make this possible. Without the grant, MJ may have never been adopted. Thank you for your generous support. You’ve helped make a huge impact on MJ’s life and her golden years.

Save-A-Pet: Cat Castles Grant Report

What was the money or product used for?

We were granted the Cat Castle carrier boxes. Since our cats our free-roaming, the boxes we use as a carrier for their new family and also something they can feel secure in until they get comfortable in their new home.

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped our cats during the transition of their new home. In the shelter they are free-roaming, and we thought it would be beneficial for the new family to have a place for their new member to feel secure and have a familiar scent while adjusting. In our cat room, we wanted to be safe that our cat castle boxes weren’t “marked” before the lucky resident went home. So we use them specifically for homeward-bound cats.

Some of our residents are very shy in our free-roaming cat room, so our beautiful Roma (bottom photo) had a special place in our “sun room” for the special-needs cats. She was brought in from the streets and was scared if anyone approached her. But she found comfort in a box with plenty of blankets to snuggle in. We have volunteers that just work with the special-needs and cats that need rehabilitation. That box gave Roma the several weeks she needed to feel more comfortable and come out and say hi, and maybe even let you pet her. She is still waiting for her new home, but until then she will always find comfort in her castle until her new family takes her home. Some of our lucky cats that found their new home are in the attached photos.
