How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

During the month of December, Cheyenne Animal Shelter offered a holiday adoption promotion for all cats over 6 months old. These cats were offered at a reduced rate of $25. Our regular adoption prices for cats are:
• Under 6 months: $65
• 6 months – 6 years: $45 (roughly a 45% discount offered)
• Over 7 years: $35 (roughly a 35% discount offered)

In December 2014, 64 cats over 6 months were adopted, a 221% increase over December 2013 (when 29 cats over 6 months were adopted).

64 (a total of 94 cats of all ages were adopted in December 2014)

Six-year-old Dorothy (first photo) originally came to us as a stray in 2010 when she was less than 6 months old. She was adopted shortly after, but was brought back to us in November after being abandoned. She was adopted on Dec. 5.

Two-year-old Fluff Ball (second photo) originally came to us in 2012 as a stray when he was just a kitten. He returned to us in 2014 as a stray again. He was adopted on Dec. 10.

Two-year-old Twila (third photo) came to us as a stray in October and was very small and thin. After lots of TLC, she went up for adoption. She was adopted on Dec. 17.

Three-year-old Apollo originally came to us as an owner surrender when his family had to move. He was adopted shortly after, but returned to us for housesoiling. After having Apollo with us, we determined that he was, in fact, litter box trained and he returned to our adoption floor. Apollo’s favorite activity is to be held like a baby. He was adopted on Dec. 2.
