Underdog Pet Rescue of Wisconsin, Inc.: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the money for supplies for vet services we provide. We took in more animals due to shelters needing us to transfer in pets to our foster-based rescue due to COVID closures. This meant we had more medical-supply needs, in addition to PPE needs to keep our staff and volunteers safe. We had to purchase more surgical pre-meds, microchips, and vaccines, specifically.

This grant helped keep us afloat while we needed more medical supplies. Without as many fundraising opportunities, this really helped bridge the gap while we had to front money for the extra medical supplies needed for the pets we took in to our rescue.

How many pets did this grant help?

Approximately 20 animals received vaccines, microchips, and pre-surgical medications thanks to this grant.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We attempted to set limits for our intake coordinators during the first couple months of Covid. We wanted to make sure we could handle the additional volume and the supplies needed for each. Thanks to this grant, we were able to exceed those limits for two months by 10 pets each month. One of the pets we took in was Brock. He would not have made it out of the shelter if we had not been able to take him in. He received the vet care he needed, and has already found a loving home that seems to be the perfect fit. Thank you so much for this wonderful grant. It really helped us a lot.
