Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The grant was used to purchase supplies for our foster care program. We welcome fosters to take dogs on field trips and "coffee dates", so we invested in "ADOPT ME" leashes and harnesses, supply backpacks, treat/supply pouches, 3 first aid kits, collar lights, etc.

In the pictures, the pink leashes are Harness Leads, which we use for all of our rescues and needed more of, which was an additional purchase we really needed!

We are giving our fosters the supplies they need to take animals on trips and help promote the animals to the public. Our impact is 3 fold, first by making our animals more accessible to the public, 2nd by empowering our fosters to do a good job, and 3 by encouraging more engagement with the public to raise our profile.

How many pets did this grant help?

We will be able to help dogs as long as our supplies last. So far, we have used these supplies with 10 animals (including bringing supplies with us to AZ to rescue dogs).

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We have a long term foster named Oso (first photo), and we have found that having a lot of supplies to carry treats for his training sessions (second photo) has not only helped us, but also the volunteers we work with. Our training sessions can be run more efficiently now, which helps all of us. He has not been adopted yet because there is still training to do, but we are much closer now because we were able to buy some much needed training supplies.
