Northwest Boxer Rescue: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was for Walter on behalf of his former family. They took great care of him, so the only thing we needed to provide from the vet was a microchip for $20. The remaining funds were used to provide chips for other dogs in our care. (Five total chips were purchased with this $100 grant.)

We often spend far more on dogs in our care than we ask for adoption fees. Every dollar helps us provide that care. When routine expenses like microchips are covered by grants, we are able to use our funds towards bigger medical needs such as tumor removals, tooth extractions, TPLO surgeries and more.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Walter came to us through no fault of his own. There was a change in his owner’s living situation and Walter found himself to be the more difficult of the dogs in the family. Walter came to us, stayed in a foster home for several weeks while we learned about him, and is now living it up with his new forever family! We see updates on him regularly, the most recent being about his sister helping him pick out a Halloween costume! (Based on the photo, they must be ghosts!)
