although the animals get daily handling and attention, the stretch and scratch was a great benefit for the cats, allowing them to entertain and comfort themselves when they were not able to be paid mind by our volunteers or the store employees.

Reba was a kitty that was in the condo forever, as all her babies got adopted, and even her surrogate “son”! Unfortunately she was just a bit shy and didn’t love other cats or dogs, so it took her a bit longer to find a home. She really loved the stretch and scratchers and she used them regularly. we often had to clean out shredded ones and replace them because she enjoyed them so much. Thankfully she finally got adopted and now she has a cat tree and other things to scratch too, but we were so grateful for the grant, as it definitely improved Reba’s life while she was with us.
