PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Cyrano was the Sponsor a Pet recipient for the Q3 donation of $50. He is a beautiful Birman long-hair who came to us with a few respiratory and digestive issues. PAWS was very lucky to find a foster situation for him at Country Pet Shoppe in Kingston, Washington. There he has received a special diet of raw food, which has relieved many of his symptoms -- so much so that he only has to receive allergy shots once a month or less, depending on his symptoms. The support helps pay for his raw diet, veterinary care, and allergy medication.

Now that Cyrano is feeling better and less stressed, his personality has changed as well. He roams free in the pet shop and loves getting attention from the customers. He is now a foster-to-adopt cat looking for that very special person who will appreciate him and be willing to keep him healthy.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Unfortunately, Cyrano hasn’t been adopted yet. He is still on Petfinder. Cyrano is a 4-year-old Birman who came to us via our vet clinic after being turned in by his owner due to his medical issues. Cyrano has chronic sinusitis and herpes, which is managed by an antibiotic shot when it flares up. It makes him an indoor-only cat, except for his adventures on our fenced-in porches. He gets winded more easily than other cats. He is as close to a dog as you can get in a cat. Cyrano thinks he is a dog and likes to play with cat-savvy dogs. You can meet Cyrano here.
