South Pacific County Humane Society: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The $180 was used to help with medical costs for one of our cats that was anemic and had an injury to his leg.

Medical costs are one of the larger expenses for our shelter. As many of the cats and dogs in our shelter come to us as strays, it is not uncommon for them to have some medical issues that need to be addressed. All cats and dogs in our shelter receive any medical care they need. Once their medical need has been addressed, they have an opportunity to go to their forever home. We are reliant on donations from the public and grants from foundations such as the Petfinder Foundation to provide the medical care that is needed.

How many pets did this grant help?

The $180 grant from the Petfinder Foundation helped with the medical expenses for one cat.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Jonah came to us as a stray, covered in fleas, anemic, and with a leg injury. He currently has his leg in a cast and is recuperating in one of our foster homes and will be available for adoption soon.

UPDATE from his Petfinder profile: “Jonah is a handsome guy with a beautiful white coat. He can be a little grumpy at times and will let you know with his paw when he wants to be left alone. Most of the time he is very sweet and loving and he does like to relax. Come say hello to Jonah and make a friend for life!”

UPDATE: Jonah has been adopted!
