The $500 grant reward was used to provide veterinary care for shelter cats and dogs.
This grant helped our organization ensure that every pet in our care receives a wellness exam, spay or neuter, microchip, recommended vaccinations and any other medical care necessary before being placed with their new families.
How many pets did this grant help?
This grant helped four cats and four dogs receive the care they needed.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
One of the dogs this grant has helped is our 160 lb. Great Pyrenees, Bailey. He found his way into the shelter four months ago after his owner passed away. During COVID-19, he missed his usual grooming appointments and was matted and dirty. He also was very unsure of his new situation and needed some time to adjust before being ready for a new home.
During his time at the shelter, we have groomed him and worked hard on his basic obedience training. If you know Pyrenees, you are aware that obedience training is no easy feat, as they tend to have a strong-willed mind of their own. Bailey, however, took to his training quickly and has learned sit, stay, lie down, wait and heel. He loves to be praised and we continue to find ways to enrich his life at the shelter while he waits for the family that is right for him.
