Whisker City: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money Whisker City received from the Petfinder Foundation was used to help one of our senior diabetic cats, Rock. This grant enabled us to provide his future adopter with a three-month supply of insulin, syringes, high-quality food and a discounted adoption fee.

Rock has been with us for several months, and the fact that he's diabetic has made it difficult to find potential adopters. This grant has allowed us to promote Rock more with a discounted adoption fee, along with a three-month supply of insulin, syringes and high-quality food.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

When Rock arrived at Whisker City at the end of 2018, he was in rough shape. He was very lethargic, was walking on his back hocks and had limited mobility. He also was drinking excessively, which led us to believe that he was diabetic. After a trip to the vet, it was confirmed that Rock was in fact diabetic, so we started him on insulin and high-quality food. With time, Rock has made an amazing transformation and we are now happy to say that Rock’s diabetes is easily managed. He’s much more active these days, he’s no longer in pain and gets around without issues.

Rock is still waiting for his forever home, but we are confident that his perfect match is out there waiting for him. Whoever adopts him is going to be very lucky to have such an amazing cat. Meet Rock here.
