Everett Animal Shelter: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are so thankful for the Petfinder Foundation's support! With this grant, we were able to purchase 550 Stretch and Scratch cat scratchers, which work so well in our stray-cat kennels and our cattery room.

Our stray cats and semi-feral cats often come in shy and scared, and it's wonderful to be able to provide them some enrichment. They love these scratchers and it's not something we budgeted for this year, so this grant is really helpful.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Espn is a 2-year-old cat who was brought in as a stray on May 17, 2023. She’s been shy at the shelter, which has caused her to be a bit overlooked.

We added a Stretch and Scratch scratcher for her as soon as they arrived and she loves it! We can already tell that this outlet is helping her come out of her shell.

Espn is still available for adoption, but we know her family is out there and will find her soon. In the meantime, she’s happy and learning to trust the staff and volunteers who provide her lots of love and care.

Thank you, Petfinder Foundation, for helping us help homeless pets!

You can meet Espn here.
