Long Trail Canine Rescue: Purina ONE Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant money was used to help reduce or waive adoption fees for wonderful lower-income applicants who have enough resources to maintain the health of a new furry friend and all the love a shelter dog could want. It helped us offer rescue to dogs on the euthanasia list and place them with wonderful families who would not have pursued adoption because of the adoption fee.
It was wonderful to be able to join homeless dogs waiting in shelters who were running out of time for a second chance with wonderful families. We were happy to provide lower adoption fees to some and waive others in order to make the connection that both the shelter dog and the family would cherish for years to come.
How many pets did this grant help?
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Chance was waiting in [an open-admission] shelter in South Carolina and was past his time to stay at the shelter. He was a super dog in every way, passed all of his tests with flying colors, but because he was a bully mix, he was unwanted and not given a chance. We had an wonderful adopter, saving money and waiting patiently for the perfect dog so he would have the means to properly take care of it and provide all the preventions it needed and good food. When we saw Chance we knew we could offer Chance a wonderful life and this adopter a wonderful dog. We waived the fee for this adopter and brought Chance to him. It has been a match made in heaven!
