Rutland County Humane Society: Purina and Amazon Treats for the Holidays Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The product was used to feed animals in our shelter, and also shared with animal owners in our community in need of assistance with the care of their animals.

When we do not need to spend money for items such as this, it allows us to spend that money elsewhere in the care of the animals in our shelter.

How many pets did this grant help?

We house over 1,300 animals each year.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

All of our animals are treated equally at the shelter. We received such a generous gift from you what we were able to help out other pet owners in need in our community. We stretched this gift all over the county that we cover! Pictured is Pokey. From her Petfinder profile: “I am a 7-year-old, 16-lb., spayed, white and gray domestic long hair. Just one look at me and you will be asking how such a striking feline was brought into RCHS as a stray! It is true, I was brought here as a stray in March and even the staff was surprised! I am so pretty and I always have the cutest expression on my face. It is as if I am always on the lookout and I am very alert, as well. My eyes show my inquisitiveness, but are also exquisite. I am looking for a home where I can get my beauty rest, and a brushing from time to time. I am definitely a people person and I am excited to get attention in my new home! I am also hoping for an inside-only home, as I am too precious to fend for myself out on the streets. I am currently being housed in a community cat room, and we will see how that goes. Hopefully, it will not be long before the right family comes in and takes me to my new forever home.” Meet Pokey:
