Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

GMHS was honored to receive the 2023 Kia Pet Adoption Grant from the Petfinder Foundation. We used these funds to reduce adoption fees.

We utilized fun and interactive ways to generate excitement for our adoption specials. We held a pick-your-own-price adoption special, a "spin the wheel for a reduced adoption price," and a "better with a buddy" promotion where the adoption fees for kittens were reduced to zero for the second kitten.

This grant made it possible for GMHS to have two record adoption months in July and August.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant has positively impacted 30 dogs (subsidizing $2,625 in adoption fees) and 30 felines (with $1,425 of reduced fees).

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Alan (first photo), a middle-aged hound mix, was a longer-stay guest at GMHS who finally found his forever home thanks to the Kia/Petfinder Foundation grant.

T’Challa (second photo), a young tuxedo cat, also benefited from our reduced adoption specials and is living her best life kayaking with her new owners!
