Forever Home Animal Rescue: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Spaying and neutering a high intake of puppies from [open-admission] shelters in our community.

We typically have to fundraise and ask for sponsors, but since time was of the essence, we pulled the puppies without back-up funding. This allowed us to properly vaccinate, deworm, and fix all of the puppies. They have all since been adopted and will live out normal lives as they will never contribute to the unbelievable overpopulation of unwanted and discarded animals. This is our mission as an all-volunteer rescue.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Fatima was surrendered with her two siblings to [an open-admission] shelter in Bedford, Va. She was adopted shortly after her spay was done then her adopted mom developed MS and had to surrender her back to us. She went to a foster with her sister, who had been adopted, and the two sisters were able to live together, happy. We are happy to report that they love each other and their human mother is over the moon. To think this could have not turned out so well just shows that hard work pays off.

Fatima and Natasha are inseparable, and all the other puppies are doing well and thriving to the fullest. Thank you so much for this opportunity to help us save the lives of nine babies who didn’t ask to be born. There should be no healthy, adoptable animals euthanized due to space.
