Humane Society of Warren County: Cat Chow Building Better Lives Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Fee-reduced cat adoptions: $10 adoption fees throughout January 2015.

Thanks to funding from the Petfinder Foundation and Cat Chow, 44 shelter cats found forever homes in one month. The funding allowed the Humane Society of Warren County to reduce our cat adoption fees to just $10 for the month of January. This resulted in the 44 adoptions and a 91% live release rate in our cat department.

Each of the 44 cats adopted in January had a story. Felicity’s story was extraordinary. Felicity was brought to the Humane Society of Warren County after being found caught in a beaver trap. Her front leg was broken and had to be amputated. The shelter was able to afford the amputation surgery and her life was saved. Felicity bounced back very well from the surgery and adjusted to using three legs. Her foster mom told us that she likes to sleep in a chair all day! She was a very calm cat. She was a bit shy at first but once she figured out you would pet her, she loved you! Felicity found her forever home during the reduced-adoption-fee special thanks to the Petfinder Foundation and Cat Chow.
