How many pets did this grant help?

100+ and still helping!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Bill (pictured) is a great example of a dog who was helped by this Kong Toy Grant. Bill loves people. He wants to be with people as much as possible. But when he is not with someone, he is comforted by the Kong toys while he waits for the next person to come into his room. It was difficult to photograph Bill with a Kong toy because when someone is in the room with him, he wants to be with them. But be assured, he loves them and has benefited very much from the Kongs. Bill’s story is similar to a lot of the dogs we see here at LHS. They would rather be in a loving home, but while they wait, they love to have the Kong toys to keep them busy.

We currently house a dog whose owner is incarcerated. Since this is not a dog who is adoptable, we will change his name for his privacy; we will call him Charlie. Charlie is a beautiful and sweet dog, but gets nervous and destructive in the kennel. We provide him with a Kong toy stuffed with treats each day, and this keeps him busy and makes his days in the shelter environment much more bearable. Charlie receives lots of love and attention from our staff, but obviously someone cannot be with him every hour of every day, so the Kong toys help him work out that nervous energy and provide him with something to do. The Kong toys have made such a difference with Charlie.
