Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The P.L.A.Y. Chill Pad pet beds were used to keep our rescue dogs, who are housed at our Rescue Care Center, comfortable and cool throughout their stay with us!

Our nonprofit rescue organization is always in need of comfortable, quality beds for our resident dogs, especially for our longer-stay dogs who spend more time inside their kennel. Their having a comfortable place to lay their heads each night is of the utmost importance to us. The P.L.A.Y. pet beds also provide wonderful "mats" for our dogs as we teach them commands such as "place" or "stay." Having an identifiable object (and a comfortable one, at that) to serve as their command/training spot is very helpful to us.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Our adorable pittie mix, Robbie (first three photos), is a bundle of energy and charisma. Our Care Pathways team is currently working with him on some training and commands: In the photo attached, you’ll see Robbie and trainer utilizing the P.L.A.Y. Chill Pad to learn “place” and “sit.” You’ll also see him happily enjoying the comfort of the P.L.A.Y. pet bed during his training breaks! He is currently available for adoption and looking for his forever home. Here is Robbie’s Petfinder profile.

Kanny (fourth and fifth photos) came to us from Puerto Rico and is considered a flight-risk dog. She is extremely scared and skittish and spends a lot of time curled up on her P.L.A.Y. pet bed in her kennel. She is not yet ready for adoption, but will be enjoying her comfy pet bed in the meantime as she prepares to find her forever home!
