Roanoke Valley SPCA: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong toy grant was used to provide enrichment to the dogs in our care.

This grant helped by allowing us to give toys to the dogs in our care and keep them from getting bored while they wait to be adopted into their forever homes. Being inside a cage can cause dogs to get bored and stressed out easily and we want them to be comfortable.

How many pets did this grant help?

Numerous dogs

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This grant helped Greta, a 9-year-old Lab/collie mix. She has been in our care for about a month now and, even though we play with her and walk her and the rest of the dogs as much as we can, they can still get bored while waiting inside their kennels. With the help of the Kong toy grant, we can give Greta a Kong toy and she can stay occupied for a while and not be stressed. From Facebook: “Hi human, my name is Greta and I’m the gal for you! First, I’ll reel you in with my soulful eyes, and then I’ll hit you with my big ole smile for the win! At 9, I may be a seasoned gal, but I still have plenty of pep in my step. From my curly tail to my floppy ears, I am up for any adventure that involves my human right by my side. Come see meet me today and see for yourself!”
