Cache Humane Society: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used our Adoption Options in Action grant to purchase "adopt me" vests and colorful supplies to improve in-shelter photo shoots. All adoptable animals now leave the shelter for day trips and slumber parties sporting new "adopt me" vests. With Petfinder Foundation support, our volunteers have also made holiday bandannas, flower crowns, and costumes for entertaining and effective photo sessions.

Our "adopt me" vests have helped numerous shelter dogs find loving homes. They encourage positive interactions all over town, on hikes, and at our volunteer-organized slumber parties. Many dogs have found homes with people they met out and about, and the CHS logo on the vests has also encouraged more people to visit our shelter. The photo shoot supplies have brought increased attention to our adoptable cats. We've made holiday-themed collars to coordinate with adoption promotions, fun headware, and ribbon toys for photo shoots.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Money (first photo) was a big bully boy with cropped ears and a low bark. He was surrendered to our shelter when his owners made plans to move. We knew he was an absolute softy, but his demeanor could be a bit intimidating. Something about a cute adoption vest makes a dog more approachable, and Money loved to strut around in his blue vest. He made friends all over town and spent a lot of time in our lobby. His “adopt me” vest attracted positive attention everywhere he went. With the help of the Petfinder Foundation, Money found a home after only a couple short weeks in our shelter.
