Westie Rescue Houston: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The dog beds are used at our current foster homes to give our dogs waiting for homes a comfortable place to sleep during the day, as well as in their crates at night for sleeping.

It helped the pets by providing comfort while waiting for their forever homes. It helped the organization by providing beds for the dogs that we would otherwise purchase, freeing up funds for other medical needs and additional comforts for the dogs.

How many pets did this grant help?

We have had about 30 dogs come through the program since receiving the dog beds.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Clover, one of our forever fosters, loves her P.L.A.Y. dog bed. She has been in our program for over a year and a half now due to her medical condition, which prohibits her from being adopted out of our program. Clover lives with her foster mom and two furry foster brothers. When the family moves from room to room, so does Clover, with her dog bed in her mouth. The dog bed has accompanied her to every room of the house and most recently accompanied the family on their adventure to visit the family over the holidays. Clover slept in her bed the entire 13-hour car ride and made sure her bed had the perfect location at Grandma and Grandpa’s house: under the Christmas Tree. Here she watched presents being opened, the family eating dinner, and of course her brothers playing, all from the comfort of her P.L.A.Y. bed. Thank you for providing Clover the comfort she needs to feel at home and loved as we work on her medical concerns.
