Cleburne Animal Services: A Shot at Life Vaccination Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The vaccinations are boosting adoptions and fosters. All cats and kittens going through adoption or foster are vaccinated thanks to the grant.

By vaccinating cats and kittens at the facility it has greatly reduced URIs, which were a common problem in a shelter environment and slowed the adoption process to a halt while the animals were treated or rescue was contacted to take on the treatment. Prevention is the best method, and by preventing a few common shelter cat illnesses, we can concentrate on finding homes and fosters for these wonderful animals rather than combating illness. Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Meet Thor! What a handsome fellow, who found his forever home because his pet mom found out he had received his first set of vaccinations — saving her from a potentially expensive visit to the vet for kitten shots. Thor is loving life now: chasing bugs, sun bathing, and being the apple of his pet parents’ eye! Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!
