Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Madison was originally adopted from AGSDR back in 2010. She came back into our care after she was surrendered to the San Antonio Animal Shelter in June 2020. Madison had a rope tied around her right rear leg and a mangled foot. The vet diagnosed her with a degloving injury, foot necrosis, gangrene, hookworms, and an ear infection.

After two weeks of care at our partner vet hospital in San Antonio, Madison underwent surgery to amputate the toes on her right hind foot and she was released into the care of our beloved fosters Nancy and Sharon.

Nancy and Sharon spent the next nine months changing her bandages several times a day and providing daily hydrotherapy. We are eternally grateful to Nancy and Sharon for their unconditional commitment of love and meticulous care. Madison’s foot was fully healed by March 2021 without any further amputation needed. Madison is now ready for placement into her forever foster or adoptive home. Meet Madison here.
