Saving Our Companion Animals - Fort Bend County: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

To help defray the costs associated with having reduced-adoption-fee events, especially to promote harder-to-adopt pets.

Since we received this grant, we have been able to promote several half-price adoption weeks and half-price foster features. We hope to be able to continue to offer these periodically throughout the remainder of the year and attract more adoptions.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Lizzie Lou (first photo) and Halle (second photo) were two of the dogs we were able to get from a horrible breeder/hoarder situation earlier this year. They were both fearful of humans and being used to breed, kept in cramped kennels stacked on top of each other in a garage. On top of being undersocialized, they were completely unvetted, and Lizzie Lou had a broken leg that needed to be set. Thankfully, we were able to get the owner to surrender them to us and we then got them medically treated and into loving foster homes. Both girls found amazing forever families during one of our reduced-fee adoption events.
