Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We’ve had several dogs come into the rescue with medical issues, such as heartworm-positive dogs, those in need of hip surgery, unwanted litters of puppies who need a chance at life and just our regular vetting to have our dogs adopted. In March we rescued a little doxie/spaniel mix we named Abby. She was picked up at a local Lowe’s and taken to the shelter. Once her hold was up, no one had come and the shelter was full. She was placed on the euthanasia list. We immediately went down and picked her up.

After we got her settled into her foster home, we took her to our vet for her checkup and vaccines. We were told she was pregnant and due in about two to three weeks. Since she was only at about 15 lbs., our vet suggested a sonogram to see how many she was carrying. We assumed two or three since she was so little, but she actually had 10! Two weeks later she gave birth to all 10 wonderful little puppies: five boys and five girls. All survived with the help of this grant. If it hadn’t been for this grant and the help of several volunteers, Abby’s puppies would not have survived. Abby as well as all 10 of her puppies found wonderful forever homes and are thriving and doing well!
