How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant has been instrumental in our ability to support the unexpected medical care of our foster dogs, particularly Hazel, while continuing to keep intake open and at normal levels. Unexpected medical bills can quickly restrain regular operations, and having grant partners like Kia and the Petfinder Foundation supporting us makes all the difference.

Hazel came to us back in February, but before that she lived a pretty sad life, as she was forced to spend her life tied up outside.

Soon after we received the generous Kia grant, we found out Hazel had a severe abdominal condition called a diaphragmatic hernia that was caused by being hit by a car before she entered our program.

Fortunately, her surgery and recovery went very smoothly and she’s well on her way back to health! It was a very costly operation for us, so this grant was a huge help in covering vet bills. It also ensured that Hazel is much more adoptable now and is less likely to be returned in the future for what may have been unseen health complications. Overall, this grant was a huge help to save Hazel’s life and ensure her a bright future!
