How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We utilized the beds received as a comfort blanket for the senior dogs in our rescue. We feel they deserve the same comfort as others.

Many of our pups are 5+ years old, and having the comfort of their own beds has made them much more comfortable.

Mickey came to the rescue five years ago in rough condition from neglect. His eyes were in bad shape and he had mange. Over the course of being at MHCR, his eyes made great improvement and he became a healthy boy. During year three, he lost an eye due to ulceration. That didn’t stop him at all. He had learned all three acres inside and out and was the best buddy around, welcoming all the new dogs into their temporary home. Around a year later, he started going blind, but was still as lovable and loyal as ever. In August 2018 he lost his other eye, so it was time for him to relax. That’s when his bed came in handy. He just loved lying on it, like it was a whole new world.
