Mason's Haven Canine R&R: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The P.L.A.Y beds are being used to teach the "place" command to dogs who are in the process of getting adopted. We are also using the dog beds as cushion support for our seniors. We also paid this "gift" forward by donating the smaller ones (as we have no small dogs) to another rescue that was in need of beds as well.

We are able to use the larger beds to teach the "place" command and provide extra cushion for some of our senior dogs when they lie on their Kuranda beds.

How many pets did this grant help?

10 dogs: Each dog received a bed. Four of the dogs were from our rescue. The others were from another rescue.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Doug is a recent rescue. He was said to be 6 years old and a bit shy. We found out he was 2 years old and had heartworms and nutritional issues. He opened up and became a wonderful dog. He’s in transition to his new home. While we wait for his heartworm treatment to end, we have been training him for his new adopters.
