Stray Acres Sanctuary and Animal Rescue: WAHL Grooming Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Upkeep on animals' hair in general and preparation for adoption, and skin and hair care on demodex dogs.
It helped in preparation of adoption for the dog pictured. He has a lot of long hair and it helped to clean his hair and make it more manageable. With our demodex dog, she had an infection in her skin also, and it helped to make her skin more soft and helped her hair grow back, which it has entirely. It also helped in keeping all of our dogs clean and their hair in good condition.
How many pets did this grant help?
All animals in general, but two specifically.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Rufus, a Pyrenees cross, who has long and thick hair, was adopted. In preparation for the adoption, we used the shampoo to bathe him; it cleaned his hair and helped to make it manageable. It really helped us in getting the tangles out of his hair. Indy is a pit cross who came to us completely without hair and a staph infection on parts of her skin. While giving her antibiotics, we also bathed her to help her skin stay healthy so her hair could grow back and to get rid of bacteria. The shampoos helped to keep her skin soft and allowed her hair to grow back.
