Apollo Support & Rescue: Disaster Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
I applied for the grant to replace the kennels that were destroyed in a storm in March. Since then we have had three or four more storms, so we were waiting, as every minor repair we had done was destroyed. This is our first spring on the land, and we'd had no idea that the winds were so bad. So we figured we could build a permanent play yard that would withstand the high winds and rain. We were able to get fence panels donated to go towards this project. This would allow for a 150' x 100' play yard for our dogs. We are almost done building the play yard that we are calling a small dog park. Due to the heat, we are short on volunteers, but we are almost complete. We plan to hang "Petfinder Foundation" on one of our fence panels. I understand a report is due now, but we will post more final pictures later. THANK YOU for making this possible.

How many pets did this grant help?
75 dogs at our facility
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
All of our facility’s adoptable pets were helped by this grant; more than 75 dogs now have access to a dog park to run and play and play fetch. We had nowhere for the dogs to safely run and play. We have five acres, but it’s not fenced in, so walks were the only thing we could do. We had small outdoor kennels in which they could get some time playing, but they kept getting destroyed by the weather. The new dog park is permanent and huge, allowing plenty of free run-and-play time. Living in a kennel environment, this is so much-needed to keep these dogs happy. The back wall is wood fence; the rest of the walls are 9-gauge chain link.
