Red River SPCA: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Product was one flat of 25 BIV cat vacs

Provided protection from URI problems -- using the same BIV cat vacs we've used ever since Pfizer merged with BIV -- but most important, it gave us the opportunity to post info on the wall of the cat house at PetSmart in Sherman TX [where our cats are adopted] announcing this grant and bringing attention to the importance of inoculating cats [and dogs]. We also posted the announcement on our Facebook. (This was done by another member because I do not even access Facebook.)

How many pets did this grant help?

Some of the kittens received two doses. Juveniles and adult cats just needed one. Since we already had Fel-O-Vax IV and Fel-O-Vax VI + CaliciVax, it's hard to figure at which point I started/ended with this box. I'd guess 15 kitties.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

“Big” and “Not” were owner-surrendered to us as sibling adult kitties. These brothers had not had boosters since they were kittens. As their photo shows, they’re definitely NOT kittens now! They were adopted by a lady and her daughter who still lives at home to care for her mother. To quote one text from the daughter, “These two kitties are a joy to me and a comfort to my mom!”rnrnCryBaby was rescued as a stray kitten and brought to me. I nursed her back to health, started her vacs and had her spayed. The vacs arrived just in time for her 2nd booster, making CryBaby the 1st kitty to take advantage of the grant! She was adopted two days after being taken to PetSmart. She found a forever loving home with a [formerly] lonely senior citizen!
