Tejas Rescued Pet Adoptions: Disaster Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The grant was used to pay for temporary kennels for TRPA's cats, kittens and a dog displaced due to flooding. The foster home most of our cats were housed in flooded with up to four feet of water. The dog's foster home does not exist anymore. It was washed away during the flood.
The grant paid for temporary kennels for our cats, kittens and one of our dogs. The grant also paid for two kittens' veterinary care while they were at the kennels. This grant enabled TRPA to wet-vacuum, clean, dry and sanitize the cats' and kittens' regular foster home while our pets were safely housed in a dry kennel environment. The grant also enabled us to kennel the dog until another foster home was located and approved.
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Two of our kittens, Frankey (first photo) and Cheezy (second photo), were standing in water when rescued from the flooding at their foster home. They experienced some hypothermia and needed IV fluids and around-the-clock veterinary care to recover. We cannot thank the Petfinder Foundation’s Disaster and Emergency Response Grant enough for helping TRPA through this disaster.
