The Humane Society of Washington County: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Money was used to purchase necessary food and provide basic veterinary care to several of the animals in our program. Specifically, monies helped to purchase puppy food, and also covered vetting expenses such as rabies, DHPP, and FELV/FIV vaccinations; spay/neuters; and other vetting costs incurred during special situations.

Monies were used to help continue our operations at normal capacity. We were able to help provide high-quality nutrition and vet care for the animals in our program thanks to the Petfinder Foundation's COVID Operation Grant.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One particular pooch this grant helped was Bella. A nice lady rescued Bella from off the street and brought her to us so we could find her a fur-ever home. Bella is a sweet girl, but she had really bad manners when she first arrived. She wanted to jump all over everyone, and hadn’t really walked on a leash before. With the Humane Society staff, volunteers, and a wonderful foster home’s help, we were able to help Bella become the best pup she could be. She is now living her best life in a home in North Carolina with her new family, and wants to say how happy and thankful she is for the Petfinder Foundation’s help! As a matter-of-fact, her new owners first saw Bella on Petfinder.com!
