Sweetwater Valley Dog Rescue: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money was used to provide some much-needed veterinary care for two intake dogs, specifically to update their vaccines and perform a 10-chem test to check their internal health.

This grant gave us the opportunity to intake two senior dogs who would have ended up at a municipal shelter. The dogs' former owner was diagnosed with serious health problems and therefore committed to an assisted-living center.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Topper and Leo were two senior dogs whose former owner was diagnosed with some very serious and, unfortunately, life-threatening health issues. As a result, the owner moved to an assisted-living center which would not allow pets, so we stepped in to prevent Topper and Leo from being surrendered to a municipal animal shelter. Both dogs have not been posted because more vet care is upcoming for them and we are allowing them to adjust to life outside of everything they have known for the past 10-plus years.
