SPCA of Bradley County: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to this grant, we have been able to provide daily kennel enrichment for all of our in-care canines! Our shelter operates out of a large garage that wasn't meant to house dogs. We have a small staff of under 10 with a limited volunteer base, so these Kongs have made our shelter pets very happy! It is fun to walk past the kennels and watch them playing with them!

How many pets did this grant help?

Approximately 400

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Cersei (first three photos) and Tank (fourth and fifth photos) in particular are two dogs who have really enjoyed their peanut butter-stuffed Kongs!

Cersei is our longest resident, and has been in our care since January 2021, sadly. She is barrier-reactive and doesn’t show well to potential adopters because they are fearful of her.

Since we started giving her daily in-kennel enrichment, she has slightly improved for showings because she is busy with her Kong.

She is still available for adoption, but we are hoping she will get adopted by the end of the year!!

You can meet Cersei here.
