Williamson County Animal Center: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The donated funds were used to pay for the adoption fees. This helped increase our adoptions for our harder-to-place animals. Adopters were able to save money and apply that toward the care of the animal once it was in the home!

It helped give our harder-to-place animals an edge over the others. It also helped folks who feel like it is too emotional to come in and volunteer give back to the community by donating online. It is a win/win for everyone!

How many pets did this grant help?

To date, nine animals

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

On May 4, 2015, a donor gave $45 to cover the adoption fee of a cat named Echo. Echo was a very hard-to-place cat as she was extremely shy and was not thriving in the shelter environment. It also did not help that she was a black-colored cat. Darker-colored animals seem to linger longer in the shelter environment. As soon as we put up a sign that her adoption fee was sponsored via a Petfinder donor, we had many folks interested in her. Within a month, she was adopted!
