McKamey Animal Center: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was extremely beneficial to the pets in our care as it allowed for more adoptions than ever to occur by waiving adoption fees. In the month of July, we had more than 460 animals placed into loving homes -- a record-breaking month for MAC!

The first week of the month was allocated to the support received from this generous grant. During that time, more than 100 animals were placed!

Offsetting the costs of adoption fees helped more pet-loving people to make the choice to become pet parents. We are so grateful for this support.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of the sweet dogs who was adopted during this grant period was a young female dog named Lady Bug. Lady Bug was found as a stray by one of our Animal Protection Officers after a good Samaritan called us to say they believed a puppy had been dumped.

Lady Bug was underweight, had worms, and had given up on life. After she was brought to MAC and received proper medical care, nutritious food, and love and attention from staff and volunteers, it was clear to us she would make an amazing companion for someone.

After a few weeks had passed, Lady Bug was made available for adoption, just in time for our July Adoption Event! Lady Bug was quickly adopted — at no surprise to us, as she was the sweetest girl once she got to know you!

Lady Bug’s adoption fee was waived thanks to your generous grant support. She and her new human parents were thrilled for the big day — so much so that Lady Bug couldn’t stop smiling for her adoption day photo!
