Doodlebug Manor: A Shot at Life Vaccination Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
These were vaccines for cat / dog .
We were able to utilize the vaccine to administer the first round of necessary vaccines to
kittens at intake.
It was a wonderful cost saver, and also enabled us to vaccinate more quuickly than having to make
separate vet appointments to get vaccines on in take kittens.
Unfortunatly - by the time we received the vaccines they had a two week shelf life left - so were only able to utilize those that did not expire on our cats that were intaken during those two weeks.
How many pets did this grant help?
4 kittens
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
We are a non caged rescue and work hard to insure our populations of cats/kittens can be socialized together and are tested / vaccinated prior to intake / entry.
We had -3- sibling kittens at 8 weeks about the same time we took in 4 smaller kittens from an ER situation – too young for vaccines, but a matter of survival for them. The 8 week olds had their first vaccines a few days prior to the new kittens, who promptly broke with coccidia.
Because the older kittens had been vaccinated – they were medicated, and recovered fully from the
virus. We are grateful that we had the vaccines on hand and could utilize them which in the long run saved these 3 kittens from perishing.
