Cats Are Us: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We received a 2020 COVID-19 operation grant in the amount of $250. Our greatest need at the time was to continue cat adoptions even though our building was closed to the public and we could not access the everyday adoption center at our local adoption partner, PetSmart. We used the funds toward veterinary care for several cats whom we adopted at zero or reduced fees straight from the veterinary clinic to their new homes.
The grant funds helped us quickly provide needed care to several cats and then offer reduced or zero adoption fees in order to facilitate quick adoptions during the pandemic.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Zorro (pictured as a kitten with one of his littermates) and James Bond were both returned to our rescue after unsuccessful previous adoptions. Both needed booster vaccines to be adoption-ready. Cookie and Shadow were also helped by this grant. Both were treated for urinary-tract infections and upper-respiratory infections. Roman is a beautiful Siamese mix who needed neutering along with vaccines and other treatments to be adoption-ready.
The real story here is that your generous grant allowed us to continue our work of rescue and adoption when COVID-19 brought everything to a halt. We are grateful that we could continue placing cats in forever homes during this difficult time. All of the cats mentioned here were adopted during the early months of the pandemic. Because COVID affected the number of volunteers who help us and our normal intake process, we were unable to take photographs of all of these cats.
