Humane Educational Society: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The funding was used to pay for flea/tick preventative, initial FVRCP vaccination, and dewormer for cats/kittens and flea/tick preventative, initial DHPPV and bordetella vaccinations, and dewormer for puppies/dogs.

Funds at our shelter were very tight at the time the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Because of the virus, we had to postpone our biggest fundraiser of the year, which meant we were desperate for money to operate the shelter. The Petfinder Foundation grant allowed us to provide vaccinations for the homeless dogs and cats who continued to come into the shelter.

How many pets did this grant help?

30 dogs and 115 cats

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Carina, Gamora, and Milani all came in as strays in mid-April. They were about five weeks old. Because of the grant from the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to give them all vaccinations, dewormer, and flea/tick preventative at the appropriate ages. Because they were just babies, we sent them to one of our wonderful foster homes, where they were taken care of and loved until they were ready for adoption. Carina and Gamora found homes quickly once they were up for adoption. Milani took a little longer to find her home, but we sent her to our partner cat cafe, the Naughty Cat Cafe, and she was adopted almost immediately. All three kitties are now in their loving forever homes!
