Spoiled Acres Rescue, Inc.: Shelter+ Challenge Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
With the wonderful grant that we were awarded, we were able to purchase hay. Hay is one of our biggest expenses. Our hay bill is close to $15,000 per year. We use approximately 3,500 bales of hay a year for the animals in our care.
With some of the hay burden taken off of us, we were allowed more time to work on adoptions. Due to this, we have placed five horses, five goats and seven pigs since the first of the year!! We are so grateful for this opportunity! I am sure that the animals are too!
How many pets did this grant help?
We started the year with 10 horses, eight goats, 10 pigs, three cows, one donkey and one ram.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Since we were able to purchase a bulk load of hay, we were able to focus our attention to placement of animals. We recently placed a wonderful horse that had been with us for several years. He is a little “misunderstood” and needed a special home. Through creative advertising and networking, we found that special home.
