How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong toys provided are being used by our adoption-floor dogs for enrichment. We continue to sanitize them and reuse them.

Charleston Animal Society adopted 2,323 dogs in 2018 alone. Our shelter staff relies on a variety of enrichment items and toys to help dogs waiting for their forever homes. Reducing unwanted shelter stress and negative behaviors are critical to providing the best care possible to animals in our care. Happy dogs on the adoption floor are more likely to be well-received by the public and adopters.

Buzz is one of the hundreds of hounds who are brought in to Charleston Animal Society each year. With all that energy, play time is super important, both outside, and inside with toys. The Huang family adopted him into a loving home with two children and his energy matches theirs! According to his adoptive mom, Buzz enjoys sleeping on her bed and they love having him as a part of their family.
