Gladys arrived at our shelter at the height of the pandemic in early April. Her family was “thinning out” the number of pets in their care and she was one of several to find themselves suddenly homeless and in need. Thanks to your grant support, we had vaccines on hand to keep her healthy and a SNAP kit to deliver the news that she was heartworm-positive. Despite the challenge of her being heartworm-positive, we were able to get her in for treatment and then into one of our rescue partners, where she was adopted soon after her arrival.
