Orangeburg SPCA: WAHL Grooming Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The product was six bottles of the oatmeal shampoo concentrate and 50 free samples with $1.00-off coupons. The shampoo was used to bathe dogs and the free samples were given out in the goodie bags that we give clients when they adopt a dog.

Not only did it save us the cost of buying shampoo, it also fostered goodwill with the clients who adopted from us.

How many pets did this grant help?

It has helped 50 adopters and is still helping the animals at the shelter.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Most of our animals that we adopt are picked up by animal control. They come into the shelter with numerous skin problems and fleas and ticks. The first bath they get is with flea shampoo. After they are at the shelter for a week, they can have their spay/neuter surgery. This is when they were bathed with the oatmeal shampoo. Not only was it good for their coats and skin, it smelled great. Since the animals could not be bathed for 10 days after their surgeries, the clients were happy to take home a dog that smelled great and had a shiny coat. They especially appreciated the free sample and the coupon that was given them in their gift bag when they took home their forever pet.
