Dog Town Rescue: Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Dog Town Rescue applied our grant to medical bills for an urgent medical case (severe mange), medication purchases, and spaying and neutering our adoptable animals.

This grant made it possible for us to save a medical case from euthanasia, bought medication to fight off respiratory infections and kennel cough, and spayed and neutered our animals pre-adoption.

How many pets did this grant help?

About five total.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Meet Burton. Burton was surrendered to Animal Care and Control of Philadelphia with a severe case of Demodex mange. Without the commitment of a rescue, Burton would be eligible for euthanasia. Dog Town Rescue saved Burton and placed him in a loving and nurturing foster home. His foster family put in weeks of time, care, love, and patience to nurse Burton back to health. He fought through infections, fever, and pain to get to where he is today (waiting for his final negative skin scrape, and then off to a forever home). We couldn’t have saved Burton without the generous Orvis grant we received from the Petfinder Foundation. Thank you!
