Indiana County Humane Society: Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Spaying and neutering of shelter animals

By spaying and neutering we are helping the community with the overpopulation problems we have. This also helps with the health of the animals. The fact that they are spayed and neutered helps increase the chance of them being adoted into a furever home!!!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Ozzie a black labrador mix who was originally an owner surrender because they could no longer keep him was a long term resident at our shelter. He had been here since November of 2012. he was passed by by many potential adopters possibly because he wasnt neutered, his age(7), or maybe because he was a big black dog?? He was a very nice dog. We moved him to the first cage hoping he would get adopted? We had a sponsor for his adoption still no adoption.

We decided since he was such a nice adoptable dog to have him neutered. It was a very short time after he was neutered that he was adopted into a furever home!!
