Brandywine Valley SPCA: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our promotion for Earth Day was very well received at all of our shelters in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Over the course of the promotion, 76 cats and 72 dogs were adopted at a reduced adoption fee thanks to the Petfinder Foundation and Kia's generosity. That's 148 homeless pets who found new homes. The promotion drew a lot of people to our shelter, which really helped get the word out about adopting homeless animals and all that the Brandywine Valley SPCA can do to help the community.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Visa (first photo) came to us as a stray kitty, covered in wounds and quite terrified. He went through months of medical treatment and socialization before we were finally able to get him to come out of his shell.

On Saturday, he landed a home with a seasoned BVSPCA adopter who had already opened her home to a few of our senior cats (second photo).

Visa was among the many lucky pets to find homes during the first weekend of our Reduce, Reuse, Re-love adoption promotion. A huge thank you to the Petfinder Foundation for awarding us the 2022 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, which made matches like this possible for Visa and his friends.
