Save A Yorkie Rescue: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Petfinder Foundation donation of $50 was given to help Pastel, a tiny Yorkie pulled from a shelter in Reading, PA. Pastel was emaciated and thin, but as sweet as her name. She "spoke" only Spanish and the family who gave her up called her Cupcake -- thus "Pastel," Spanish for Little Cake. Pastel was given up because she had a deformed back leg. She could only hobble; her leg collapsed when she tried to walk on it. We used the donation to help pay for her surgery by an orthopedist. Today, Pastel has been adopted and she walks and runs normally. She is a delight to her new family. A wonderful, loving dog.

This grant enabled us to tell the surgeon, "DO IT!" Whatever the dog needed to have done to allow her to walk normally for the rest of her life: DO IT! He did, and she now walks like a show dog.
