How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are a foster-based rescue. Many of our foster parents work full-time, and we take on dogs with enrichment needs. Providing healthy mental stimulation, Kong toys are a great way to keep dogs occupied. Dogs are happier, less destructive, and more easily adopted when they are physically and mentally satisfied.

Simba is a small terrier mix with many puppy-like tendencies. He had not learned how to control his mouthiness during playtime and could easily hurt someone if they weren’t paying attention.

Little Simba didn’t have a mean bone in his body, but his play style needed some refinement. Through redirection using Kong toys, Simba learned more appropriate play styles and has since been adopted into a very loving home!
