Pet Adoption Network, Inc.: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We applied the $22.50 from Sponsor a Pet donations through the Petfinder website toward the medical costs of a little "wheezy" dachshund named Jackson.

Jackson was born with a malformed trachea that caused him to choke on food or water because the muscles couldn't move things along. The doctors verified that he would have no real quality of life, and unfortunately we had to let him go to the Rainbow Bridge. But every donation towards his care allowed us to keep our adoption fees for medical costs for other dogs.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Jackson was a fantastic 8-month-old dachshund with a beautiful personality. He was surrendered to Pet Adoption Network in Philomath, Oregon, with some health issues. He had pneumonia, which was treated, and a malformed trachea. The poor little man could not breathe appropriately and spit up most of what he ate. The diagnostic work to figure out what was going on with this little guy was quite expensive and, sadly, revealed that he would have no real quality of life.
